OPENING NIGHT
Join
Tampa Bay Gay as we step into the opening night of VOLTA
by Cirque du Soleil. Buckle up and get ready to send
yourself back in time to a BIG TOP Tent show. VOLTA leaves no
stone unturned. The massive tent is breath taking as you walk
up. The tents, are larger than life, they glow in the evening
darkness. "Step Right Up" and feel that moment when you face
the entrance of VOLTA. As with any traditional traveling circus
or Cirque show you get to walk the MIDWAY; visit the food vendors,
pick up a clown nose, sample tasty treats, wines, look at show
memorabilia, all of this is teasing your mind. Consider it a
sneak peek at what is behind the curtains. Curtains are drawn
and seating has begun.
Inside the Big Top, I doubt there is a BAD seat. As we settle
in for the show there is a certain BUZZ going around. I was
lucky enough to sit next to a co-worker of our own local Jerry
Penacoli. As we chit chat, we start reminiscing about prior
Cirque shows we have seen. Amazingly that BUZZ was going on
all around us. You could hear, "I remember the last Cirque show
I saw…" and similar stories. That kind of BUZZ is priceless,
and the memories that go with that are golden. Stage Right,
weird cell phone lady with her obnoxious light on. Oh wait there
are a bunch of them; ah-ha part of the show. Time to set the
stage, the camera is on and the host clown is out. Let the fun
begin as we enter the world of VOLTA. "Let the (Game) Show Begin!"
We join WAZ on his "QIUD PRO QUO", gameshow adventure. I am
not giving any more info because I do not want to spoil anything
for anyone going to the show. GREAT ACTS including Rope Skipping,
Acro Lamp, Parkour, Swiss Rings, Acrobat Ladders, Hair Suspension,
Baton Twirling, BMX and more. Let me remind you, this is VOLTA,
FIND YOUR FREE (all of these acts are beyond what you expect).
I also want to note that ALL of the music and singing is LIVE.
Be sure to check out our INSTAGRAM
Page for pictures from the show. VOLTA brings
magnificent acts and a music that you feel.
The show is under the BIG TOP but inside it is a very imamate
settling. The set uses every inch, the stage gives 360 view.
I can say this Cirque show was AWSOME (honestly, I say that
about them all). The show is running through March 18, at the
Tampa Greyhound Track. Tickets are on sale with a $10.00
OFF COUPON Exclusive to Tampa Bay Gay readers.
Oh Yeah; remember the annoying cell phone lady (people) from
the beginning of the show I mentioned above, ironically I forget
all about our digital world. I think they are telling us something!
