Gregory invites seven friends to spend the summer at his large,
secluded 19th-century home in upstate New York: Bobby, Gregory’s
blind significant other; Art and Perry, two yuppies; John, a
dour expatriate Briton; Ramon, John’s companion; and James,
a cheerful soul.
This is Terrence McNally adaptation of his Tony-winning Broadway
play staring Jason Alexander, Stephen Bogardus, Randy Becker,
John Glover, and John Benjamin Hickey, and directed by Joe Mantello.
Love! Valour! Compassion! is our May film screening
of our A-List Film Series. This film was selected by 2016 Distinguished
Friend of the Festival Award Recipient David Gonzalez.
This film is only available from TIGLFF as an in-person screening.
“I chose Love! Valour! Compassion! to honor the recent passing
of Tony award winning playwright Terrance McNally. Terrance
was born right here in St. Petersburg, FL and was recently honored
with a plaque at his childhood home in Treasure Island/Sunset
Beach. The film brought together the majority of the actors
from his Tony-winning play with the notable change of Jason
Alexander (of Seinfeld fame) to replace Nathan Lane as the broadway-loving
Buzz. The film’s central theme of chosen family has always resonated
with me and I too have a group of lifelong friends I consider
family. Please join me as we visit the lake house for one more
summer season.” — David Gonzalez
