Scottish
singer/writer/producer ONR (pronounced “honor”) shares new track
and video “Human Enough,” the latest from his forthcoming Must
Stop EP, due out May 15 on Warner Records. “Human Enough”
was co-written with Dave Bassett [Bishop Briggs, Rachel Platten]
and Sam Hollander [One Direction, Katy Perry], then produced
alongside Mark Crew [Bastille, Rag’N’Bone Man].
ONR explains, “I liked the idea that 'being human' wasn’t a
defining quality, but rather a sliding-scale… that you could
consider yourself ’not human enough’ to be someone else’s equal.
The video is dark, confused, frustrated; it exists within this
fantastical alternative reality where the concept of being human
is (literally) different from our own.”
“Human Enough” is the second track to be released from ONR’s
Must Stop EP, following the recently-released debut track
“Sober."
The forthcoming EP features four sparkling synth-pop gems with
an anthemic rock undertow that are almost entirely written,
played and self-produced in his home studio in Dumfries and
Galloway. Most recently, ONR wrapped a UK/European tour with
Jake Bugg and will perform at the prestigious Reading & Leeds
Festival this August. See dates here.
ONR is singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and self-taught
producer born Robert Shields. At his family’s farmhouse overlooking
the North Sea in Scotland, Shields began teaching himself piano
on an instrument he uncovered in the family shed. He continued
to hone his skills, eventually touring with Bastille, immersing
himself amongst Scottish hit-makers Lewis Capaldi and Calvin
Harris, and at last, finally figuring out who he is as a songwriter,
making music of which he is proud.
